Healthy Aging Month

| Melissa Weisenberger

The month of September not only means that fall is just around the corner, it also means that it is Healthy Aging Month.

Is your weight troubling you? Are you wanting to get back on track after all those years? It is never too late to start a new habit or hobby. This is YOUR month!

Studies have shown there are 76 million baby boomers. That means that there are 76 million people who would like to follow a well-balanced healthy lifestyle. With the holidays around the corner who wouldn’t want to be happy and healthy?

Tips to start your Healthy Aging Month1:

  1. Think positive. Start off by not letting your actual age bring you down. You are only as old as you feel. Stay optimistic and experience fun activities you normally would not try.
  2. Walk with confidence. Walk tall and not slouched. Pick up your pace. Make sure to wear comfortable and supportive shoes to improve your stability.
  3. Smile. Research has shown that the more people smile, the happier they are.
  4. Reach out to people. Do you spend time alone? Get together with a family member or an old friend or simply pick up the phone if you don’t want to physically go out. This is a great way to improve your social and emotional wellness.
  5. Surround yourself with animals. Do you own a pet? If not, you can volunteer at a pet shelter to spend time with some furry-friends. Research has shown that spending time with an animal can greatly increase your mental and emotional well-being.
  6. Always stay on top of doctor visits. This will ensure a healthier lifestyle.
  7. Spend time around music and art. They both can speak to your soul. You will find yourself more relaxed and have time to clear your mind. Visiting art galleries, museums, painting and drawing can soothe anxiety and other illnesses.

It is never too late to start! It only takes 21 days to change a habit. Set a goal to live healthier in less than a month. Contact us today if you are ready to optimize your health by transforming your lifestyle.

Stay Healthy!
